Since Covid-19 came into our lives, we seek more than ever, the spaces warm, welcoming, bright and, above all, those in which we can combine working life with leisure. Telework is not a pipe dream at this point, but a reality that compels us to prepare our homes for new uses. An example of this is the latest reform of the study, Matte Finish, have renovated an apartment located in L’hospitalet de Llobregat to turn it into a home and work space.
The result has been a bright, that recovers the spirit of 1920, the year in which it was built, but a prism a lot more modern and open. To give a response to the claims of the couple that inhabit it, the project takes advantage of the square shape of the plant, and intended as a starting point and potential flexibility of use; which translates into two fixed points: the bathroom and the kitchen and the rest of the rooms.
Through the linear axis of the corridor relate to the different rooms to each other. The corridor is the spine of the distribution and encompasses the kitchen and the storage space of which are fully open. The great key of the reform is the passage between the two rooms, which has been expanded on the facade to be able to perceive them as a single stay. But not only that, it has also been guaranteed the independence of the two spaces are for a different use in the future, thanks to a door-to-paper, made with the leaves of the doors are recovered.

The dining room and kitchen are also designed so broad and dynamic, the two connected, take advantage of all the light that enters from the outside and illuminates the area of the day. To continue this journey through the home, we must pay attention to the other two rooms that make up the house. Both are located to the inner courtyards are spaces of light and silence, that can be exchanged over time, their uses according to the requirements of the users.
We show you now with the detail of the little corner of this modernist house in the early TWENTIETH century, redesigned under the magnifying glass of the light, the broad and the connection between its different rooms.
Dining room and kitchen: two-in-one
As we can see in this image, a large opening in the wall of the load connects the dining room and the kitchen; the design of a processing area at the bottom, a preparation in a central island -suspended to allow the vision of the old floors – and the pantry area is integrated into the dividing wall.
Rooms luminoses and silent
This is one of the two rooms of the house. Both are located to the inner courtyards are spaces of light and silence, that can be exchanged over time, their uses according to the requirements of the users.
Recover the soil hydraulic
One of the characteristics of the modernist buildings are their soil hydraulic, which have been recovered after the reformation, next to the carpenter’s original interior wood.
Use of materials in a more contemporary
Unlike the rest of the home, in the studio/gallery materials are used more contemporary as the ground of microcement and windows of aluminum, dark grey, which we can see in this image.
In the day area connects the dining room with the kitchen, a way to make the most of the dimensions of the house. In addition, we have unified the previous stays in order to offer greater breadth and dynamism to this space.
