A project of hospitality, culture and entertainment that stands in the old barracks of the Civil Guard of the Loma del Puerco. This unique space, which has a plot of over 2,000 m2 of exploitation, has also overlooking the Beach of la Barrosaa yard with capacity for 250 people and a area of a restaurant for 100 persons. For the lover of the heights, the space also boasts a rooftop lookout point is a vantage point for the observation of the nature of the area.

To reform and rethink the space so architectural, Rooftop Group has relied on the study of Paula Rosales, who was in charge of the award-winning NuBel in the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid, and which now proposes an intervention that is very respectful putting in value the unique characteristics of the environment of the Beach of la Barrosa. The project has been completed with a delicate decoration of the study of Alejandra Pombo and the landscaping for Rent in Garden. The result is a stunning large space of unique features.

The project of rehabilitation and conditioning of the building, designed by Paula Rosales, had as its objective repurpose the space in restaurant and exhibition hall open to the public. A place priviligiado that fits through various aspects. On the one hand, enjoys a unique natural environment, crowning the slope of the Hill of Pork, with the Playa de la Barrosa to his feet. In addition, a few meters from the barracks Tower is located in the Pork, former watchtower military of the SIXTEENTH century used then to monitor the coast in prevention of attacks by barbary, now converted into a point of observation of migratory movements of birds.

The rehabilitation of the building seeks to enhance preserved, and condition it implies to integrate the facilities and the structure required by the current regulations in the most respectful and discreet as possible. The respect for the environment isn’t only enhance the value of natural and historical, of the whole, but also integrates using materials and construction techniques with local, traditional use, in a direct relationship with the craftsman, revaluing it’s own place with a contemporary vision. The change of use of the building requires a rethinking of the spaces to suit your new life. We have made a series of improvements in the distribution of both internal and external, to take maximum advantage of the site conditions, enhance views and allow the fluent use of both visitors and workers of the facilities. A space directly to the sea, decorated by Alejandra Pombo, who has opted for the neutral colours and the natural fibers both for the furnishings, as well as to the tissues. A palette that conveys peace and on which the emphasis of the spectacular chandeliers of rounded shapes and organic textures that remind us of stones rounded by the tides. The Barracks of the Sea it is the ideal space close to the coast and connecting with the long-anticipated vacation.

The building consists of two longitudinal aislesrunning parallel to the beach. The pavilion west, closer to the coast, houses the restaurant and the kitchen; this integrates the showroom and service areas. Both pavilions are connected in the main entrance on the façade northwest.

This material, associated with the image of a traditional construction in the province of cádiz, acts as a skin breathable to protect and allow you to breathe the building, ensuring that live there a state of mental well being and physical.
